Callatis and Histria choose to return to the Getae influence because they are the best to trade with. Some, like Odessos, Apollonia Pontica and Mesembria remain on Lysimachus' side. The action takes place during the conflict between the king of the Getae Dromichaetes and the diadochoi Lysimachus of Thrace, succesor of Alexander the Great of Macedon, when the Pentapolis of Pontus Euxinus, Greek-City States of the Black Sea withstand the sieges of Lysimachus and ally themselves with Dromichaetes who defeats Lysimachus several times, takes him captive but treats him like a guest and releases him acknowledging his superiority and his might, thus most of the Greek-City States return to Dromichaetes.
